The Future Histories podcast (futurehistories.today; for English episodes only see: futurehistories-international.com) was started by Jan Groos in 2019 with the goal of expanding our idea of the future by fostering critical conversations on postcapitalist political economies, democratic planning, political ecology, political theory, philosophy of technology and more. Twice a month, alternating between English and German, Jan Groos and his guests explore visions of desirable futures and investigate the societal transformations of our time.

As of August 2026, more than 200 episodes have been published. The podcast's transdisciplinary investigation shares a common ground in that all topics discussed in Future Histories are of central importance for the renegotiation of imaginaries of the future and the collective development of desirable worlds to come.

Since mid-2020, the project has expanded its reach through the development of new formats, such as Future Histories LIVE, where selected episodes are recorded in front of an audience with renowned thinkers like, among others, Benjamin Bratton (Future Histories LIVE @ Goldsmiths College), Eva von Redecker (Future Histories LIVE @ ZOLLO) or Anna-Verena Nosthoff (Future Histories LIVE @ Humboldt Universität zu Berlin).
